About ELG Haniel Metals Ltd
Established in 1981, ELG Haniel Metals Ltd now has a total of 9 recycling operations throughout the United Kingdom, with it's hub located in Sheffield.
During 2006 ELG Haniel Metals Ltd was honoured to receive the Queens Award for Enterprise in the Innovation category. It was particularly pleasing to receive this state recognition in the year where the Queen was 80, Haniel celebrated its 250th Anniversary and we at ELG were celebrating our 25th Anniversary.
The award recognised the Company´s innovation in adopting a method for the densification of secondary stainless steel material that produced a much improved product ideal for electric arc furnace melting. The new product overcame the disadvantageous previously associated with secondary raw materials; namely that it is bulky, awkward to handle and non-homogeneous. Utilising a Densified product can result not only in reduced storage, freight & overall production costs but it can also reduce electrode damage, the risk of explosions and prolong the life of furnace linings. In addition, considerable environmental benefits can also be achieved by using this innovative product through significant reductions in both energy costs and the use of scarce natural prime resources such as Chrome, Nickel and Iron Ore.
ELG Haniel Metals Ltd is a member of both the BMRA & BIR.
